There are a variety of ways you can access dissertations & theses. For an overview, click the link: Dissertations & Theses

The database ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global includes citations and full text of dissertations and theses from around the world, ranging from 1861 to those accepted last semester. Digital dissertations and theses are archived as submitted by the degree-granting institution.

For access, go to the Libraries' homepage:
Type "ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global" in the search box and click Search.

For researchers seeking access to unpublished dissertations & theses, it is recommended that they contact the author directly to request access.

UofM Theses & Dissertations:

UofM Electronic Thesis & Dissertation (ETD) Repository provides full text of open access University of Memphis dissertations and theses as authorized by their writers. Some titles are restricted to authorized University of Memphis users, and some titles are currently embargoed. University Libraries does not have print copies of UofM dissertations & theses published since the creation of the ETD Repository unless the author donated it.

Dissertations in Print:

If there is a published print copy of a dissertation or thesis, you can request through Interlibrary Loan a scanned version.  

More information on University of Memphis theses & dissertations:

Since the creation of the Electronic Thesis & Dissertation Repository in 2010, the University Libraries no longer receives print or CD versions of dissertations & theses unless the author donates a copy to the libraries.

By the end of summer 2018, students will no longer be required to submit their thesis/dissertation on CD. Dissertations are submitted to the ETD site after the final defense and after corrections & necessary edits have been made. This can take several months from the time of the final defense.

Access to the document through the University of Memphis Electronic Theses and Dissertations database is determined by the student author and may fall into the following categories:

• Open Access - open to anyone with Internet access.
• Embargoed - The author has chosen to prevent online access for 3 or 5 years from the date of creation to protect their creative rights.
• No Access - Due to patents included or other intellectual properties, the author has chosen not to make their work available online.

Students are not required to submit their work to the ProQuest Dissertation database. If they do, publication is usually completed within 8 to 10 weeks of receipt of the manuscript and the author may limit access.
